Overview
Properties that sit untouched because of their real or perceived contamination can be rehabilitated using our Brownfields Program along with the Voluntary Cleanup Program.
Because the Voluntary Cleanup Program provides both federal and state remedial plan approval in one step, banks will accept a "No Action Determination" letter from the program as assurance that the state or the EPA won't order a costly, conventional cleanup.
In addition to cleanup plan reviews, the Brownfields Program offers assistance to property owners in the form of:

Overview
The EPA Brownfields Program in Region 8 provides grands and technical assistance in Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, and 27 tribal nations. Brownfields assistance can be used to assess, safely clean up and sustainably reuse contaminated properties.

Targeted Brownfields Assessments

EPA provides environmental assessment services free of charge to communities through the Targeted Brownfields Assessment (TBA) program. Services typically include ​Phase I and II assessments and cleanup planning. TBA applications can be submitted anytime throughout the year. Get started with TBA.

Technical Assistance to Brownfields

EPA's Technical Assistance to Brownfields Communities (TAB) program provides free technical assistance to communities to increase their understanding and involvement in brownfields cleanup​, revitalization, and reuse. The TAB program is funded by tEPA and available to all stakeholders. The Kansas State University (KSU) offers free technical assistance for Region 8 and training program services to EPA Brownfields grantees and to those seeking brownfield grants in Region 8.

Brownfields Project Marketplace

What is the Marketplace? The Marketplace is FREE brownfields financing technical assistance. The Marketplace is an open forum that connects communities looking to finance brownfield redevelopment projects with development financiers and brownfield project experts. Through the Marketplace, communities can engage in open discussion with experts, get answers to their financing questions, and come away with a better understanding of the resources available for their redevelopment projects.
Communities are asked to prepare a brief presentation on their redevelopment project and present it to our technical assistance partners in exchange for financing suggestions.
